Madhurika Sona Jain is the Writer, Director and Producer of the feature
film, FOR REAL. At age 20 she made her first film titled ‘THE OUTSIDERS’
about the disenfranchised Hijra community in Delhi. This documentary short
won her admission to the Graduate Film Program at New York University’s
Tisch School of the Arts. While at Tisch, her student film, ‘VASARMA’S
LOVERS,’ played at a host of international festivals and received commercial
distribution domestically in the U.S. and internationally through Hypnotic
Inc and British Shorts. Sona has written and directed
the documentary, ‘Krishen Khanna: MY LIFE,’ on the life of the acclaimed Indian contemporary
artist, Krishen Khanna. ‘FOR REAL’ is her first feature film venture.
Sona was the recipient of the Graduate Fellowship at New York University.
She holds the unlikely distinction of being the youngest published author of
an Economics text-book for High School students in India. She is currently
completing an anthology of short stories, titled, GOD 101.
Sona holds a Masters in Fine Arts from the Graduate Film Program, Tisch
School of the Arts, New York University and Bachelors in Economics (Hons),
St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University.
